iQ Student Accommodation: Cosaf Enhances Hot Water and Drainage Systems at Wilmslow Park

We undertook a comprehensive design and build project, installing new, energy-efficient unvented hot water cylinders and upgrading associated pipework and above-ground drainage systems. Ensuring compliance with building regulations, we also installed fire compartments to meet all code requirements, creating a system that is both reliable and easy to maintain for iQ Student Accommodation.

To minimise disruption for residents, the project was meticulously coordinated and executed during the academic summer break, allowing for the complete upgrade of over 250 apartments. This involved stripping out and reinstating kitchen units to accommodate the mechanical and electrical work, all expertly managed by Cosaf engineers following CDM principles.

Having worked closely with Cosaf over the past couple of years we have delivered a wide range of projects from major refurbishment of M&E services to small scale fabric works. One of the most notable along the way was a major overhaul of the DHW and AGD systems at Wilmslow park which was delivered in a timely and efficient manor with minimal disruptions to the operations onsite, the project was not without it difficulties and Cosaf showed their worth in the innovation and professionalism that they brought to the table.

The Pendulum Hotel: sustainable HVAC system for Manchester conference centre

The installation process was strategically planned to run during regular business hours to ensure there was no interruption to the hotel’s commercial activities and its guests. As the Principal Contractor under CDM regulations, Cosaf ensured a seamless integration of low-energy Daikin air conditioning units, specifically within the conference areas. In addition to hardware upgrades, we also overhauled the Building Management System (BMS), replacing outdated controls with an advanced front-end that provides detailed performance feedback and remote access capabilities.
